My momma and Wayne (bonus dad!) hosted Zachary and I an engagement party on Cinco de Mayo and it was nothing short of a fiesta. One of my best girlfriends and my bonus brother came in town from NYC, Zachary’s mom flew in from New York, friends and family came in from Austin along with loved ones that live right up the road. It was seriously so incredible to have all of my loved ones (minus a few) under one roof- I feel like as I get older it most definitely gets harder to get everyone together. The cool thing is that everyone showed up to celebrate Zachary and I’s love… I mean how COOL is that. I still cannot get over the fact that Z and I have a lifetime of adventure ahead of us and we have a badass tribe supporting us every step of the way.
There has clearly been a lot going on in the midst of our engagement- but it has not deterred me from thinking about the big day. We know Charleston is the place, we know September is 2019 is the ideal time, we know we want it all to be about food (think cheese bar, funfetti wedding cake, whole roasted pig etc) and of course the union of Texas and New York.
God Bless Sylvias Enchilada Kitchen- they catered our engagement party, with a margarita machine in tow! Barbara was our dessert fairy- she provided everything from mini key lime pies, Kahlua chocolate mini cakes, Texas turtle mini pies, Mexican wedding cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, and pan dulces! Justin provided the tunes, Donna provided beautiful vegetarian platters for appetizers, The Venables brought the laughs, The Stoikas brought the fun, Christian brought the tequila, my daddy-o brought the compassion, my momma opened her house to 40 people, and Waynes world transformed the backyard into a perfectly manicured event space. I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off our engagement… I can’t imagine what the next year and a half of festivities will hold for us.
